Meet Me on the Mississippi Maple Martini

The Meet Me on the Mississippi Maple Martini is also featured in the just the released cookbook Sweet Ontario, Our Favourite Maple Recipes. It was the brainchild of marketing whiz and chamber past president Tracy Lamb of Carleton Place. The book can be purchased at the chamber information centre in Carleton Place located at 170 Bridge Street in the old Moore House.

The drink serves up a double whammy with maple whiskey and maple syrup as key ingredients, but the lemon juice in the drink does a great job to balance out the flavours and the martini is quite smooth.

.5 oz Lanark County maple syrup (You can buy John Sandberg’s Path Back Farms Maple Syrup at the CPFM)

Blueberry, peach and kale Smoothie

Five kale smoothies that don't actually taste like kale

For this smoothie, use a cup of blueberries, a handful of kale, a peach, apple juice and ice. For a creamier texture you could also add frozen yoghurt.

With the colour of this smoothie, you won’t even realise it contains kale and that’s ignoring the taste. The strong berry flavours mixed with the kale makes it less sickly sweet and more sweet/sour. For an even more adventurous taste, add a little kiwi.
