Graham Darlington- Sunshine Waffle Company-Carleton Place-
Me: “Hi, thanks for choosing Wendy’s Waffle House. What can I get for you today?”
Customer: “You guys serve breakfast all day?”
Me: “Yes sir.”
Customer: “Do you serve pancakes?”
Me: “No, sir. Just waffles.”
Customer: “Well, I don’t like waffles. Can you just make this one exception?”
Me: “Well, sir I can’t go against code and grill you up a regular pancake but I’ll tell you what: I can make you a pancake with these awesome little holes used to trap syrup on top so it cant escape off the side.”
Customer: “Really!? You would do that for me? I’ll take two!”
So this year the CPFM has a new youth vendor ready to make you waffles!

Missy Bakes!
Darlene from My Hobby Farm
Around the world, people are consuming dishes directly descended from Italy. Even those of us with no Italian heritage whatsoever can’t get enough of this cuisine. At any given moment, someone somewhere in Canada is pouring over an Italian restaurant menu. Centuries-old Italian traditions have certainly proven their worth, and our lingering love for the ways of the old country exists for more reasons than one.
Meet out own local piece of Italy right here in Carleton Place– The Mirizzis
Heather, Antonio and their son Michael moved to Carleton Place in 2011.
Antonio is originally from Apulia, a region in the south of Italy. He grew up in a typical agricultural family where good food was always cooking. Coming to Canada he realized although Italian food was popular- good quality products were hard to find.
Heather grew up in Canada and after spending the last twelve years in Europe decided she really wanted her son to go to school here. After discussions and research they decided on Lanark County where her Grandmother was from. They loved Carleton Place specifically because of the friendly small town atmosphere and the proximity to Ottawa.
You can’t go wrong with tomatoes: The tomato is one of nature’s greatest candies, a fact the Italian people seem to know well. The tomato makes an entrance on many a favorite Italian restaurant menu cover –Apulia has all sorts of goodies and you need to check their menu to see why. See if you can read farther than the delicious Bruschetta!:)
The array of Italian edibles represents the good life: Antonio makes a heck of a delicious salad great for picking up so you don’t have to cook on summer nights. Try their delicious pasta salads! Their products are all a mix of quality imported and homemade using local produce and traditional methods.
Pasta is the ultimate comfort food: It’s difficult to resist such high levels of passionTry their traditional southern Italian lasagna and spinach ricotta cannelloni! If you go to your local grocery store you will find fresh pasta, or what is labeled as fresh. Apulia doesn’t agree with this definition of fresh.
Is bread made in a factory 2 weeks ago sold as “Fresh”? Apuilia’s pasta is made daily to order and see the results in the texture and taste. They also make Gluten Free Pasta!
Even if you’ve never met any Italians from the old country, you know about their love of food. Italians don’t just eat food, they dream about it . Come and visit them on Saturday at the Carleton Place Farmers’ Market or call them! Their meals can be either oven ready or cooked, just let us know how you prefer party trays.
See menu for a complete list and prices
They are now located at 221 Franktown Road Carleton Place
Please call 613—492 –0343

You Don’t Need to Go By the Pool to Get Dip — Carleton Place Farmer’s Market
Alton Brown from The Food Network suggests that a dip is defined based on its ability to “maintain contact with its transport mechanism over three feet of white carpet”
A dip or dipping sauce is a common condiment for many types of food. Dips are used to add flavor or texture to a food, such as pita bread, dumplings, crackers, cut-up raw vegetables, fruits, seafood, cubed pieces of meat and cheese, potato chips, tortilla chips, and falafel. Unlike other sauces, instead of applying the sauce to the food, the food is typically put, dipped, or added into the dipping sauce (hence the name). Dips are commonly used for finger foods, appetizers, and other easily held foods. But what about For Extreme Garlic Lovers only? Shawna’s Gotta ‘B’ Garlic Dipables– has all these great dips available at the Carleton Place Farmer’s Market each week.
How about– and are you ready for this?
We’ve Got Jerky!!
Shawna not only offers dip.. she has all sorts of things.
