Spalted Bob-Rhubarb and Wood-Say What??
Photo through the eyes of Cathie Hawkins McOrmond
Remember I put that video up about making things with Rhubarb leaves?
Well the lads from Spalted Bob were one step ahead of me. Look what they did. They sell rhubarb and wood things. Say what?
What the heck does spalted mean anyways?
-
(of wood) containing blackish irregular lines as a result of fungal decay, and sometimes used to produce a decorative surface.
Okay then–First you see the rhubarb then what do you see?
Come on down and buy one of their creations!

Baby Bunny Co.-Sarah Henderson–Artisan’s Day-

We’re tall people around here, so I always appreciate tops with longer back panels- littles can bend and play, and not have to worry about their backs catching a draft!

Crazy Hands Creations-Sheila Gillespie–Artisan’s Day-

Artisan’s Day- Prospect Market
Jessica and Dusty Pettes

This week the Prospect Market has pickled quail eggs. The eggs come from their own birds too!
I personally can’t use normal deodorant because of the aluminium..SO–Don’t forget to try their Pit Paste is made with only three ingredients, baking soda, cornstarch and coconut oil. Any scents added I use only top quality essential oils. Because there is no beeswax it tends to melt in the summer but keeping it in the fridge if you have no AC will keep it solid.
They will also have homemade lippy (lipbalm) in peppermint flavour and a Calendula Salve for all of summers bumps and bruises.
Check out their many terrariums to choose from!

Dusty is the chef, Jessica prefers to use her stock pot and kitchen utensils for mixing potting soil 😜
And then there’s our Regular Vendors coming back!

Missy Moo’s Magical Hand Cream Soaps & Treats – Carleton Place Farmer’s Market
If you have not met Missy, you can check out the blog I did on on her called: Showering With Missy. You have probably seen her around the local craft shows, and she is always at the Carleton Place Farmer’s Market. She has all sorts of goodies you will never find anywhere, and it is all handmade with natural ingredients by Missy. This woman even meditates over her soap when she makes it. You need to see her stuff to believe it.
Get the Bad Vibes Out! Missy has Smudge Sticks!!!!
A smudge stick is a bundle of dried herbs, usually bound with string into a small bundle. The herbs are later burned as part of a ritual or ceremony. Plants that are often used include sage and cedar. Ward off Negativity!
The American English term “smudge stick” is usually found in use among non-Indigenous people who believe they are imitating North American Native ceremonies. However, the herbs used in commercial smudge sticks, and the rituals performed with them by non-Natives, are rarely the actual materials or rituals used by traditional Native Americans. Using scent and scented smoke in religious rites is an element common to many religions and cultures worldwide, but the details and spiritual meanings are usually unique to the specific cultures and ceremonies in question.
From Dandelions with Love–Dandelion Infused!!
So a few weeks ago she was looking for guinea pigs for her new hand cream. Seeing mine look like something out of the movie Hocus Pocus I made sure I was there at the Carleton Place Farmer’s Market nice and early. She told me her hand was made from unrefined organic shea butter from a co-op in Gahana that provides fair trade jobs for women. It’s made with love, and organic coconut oil– very nourishing and hydrating simple and effective.
So after a two week challenge it made a lot of difference in my hands. Not that I will ever be a hand model, but I will no longer qualify to be a horror film extra. It smells so good– just make sure you don’t eat it. It is that delicious, and it’s not going to cost you a week’s salary either. Everything Melissa has is so affordable, and made with love. I no longer have to keep my hands in my pocket in embarrassment.
Did I See your Mum Knitting at The Carleton Place Farmer’s Market?–Christina Fenton-Chrissy’s Knitting
Christina Fenton – Knitter extraordinarire–chrissyfenton13@hotmail.ca
A very long time ago my late Mother used to knit me sweaters. I think I remember each one, and the button front cardigan with a figure skater on each side was my favourite. No one makes sweaters like that anymore, and did you know there is someone carrying on the knitting tradition at the Carleton Place Farmer’s Market every week? No, it wasn’t your Mother– but no other than spectacular knitter Christina Fenton!
The traditional knitted slippers have evolved but how comfy do these look?
To heck with the mini-me fancy dancy shoes for baby- let’s go back to tradition– in a 2015 way.
These are some of Christina Fenton’s best sellers!
But wait- look at this!! A knitted coffee holder? How cool is that?
Or covers for your Swifters?
And these…. Come on down and visit with Christina Fenton who is always at the Farmer’s Market– and knitting.:)
She can also knit anything you want- within reason of course:)
